Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the term used to describe what we do to protect our learners from abuse or neglect. This involves having arrangements in place to protect our learners, as much as possible, from a range of risks including:
Physical and emotional abuse
Online bullying and exploitation
Extremism
Drug and alcohol addiction
Gang violence and exploitation
Sexual abuse and exploitation
Threats to mental health and emotional wellbeing
Our Safeguarding Policy sets out the full range of arrangements we have in place to keep our learners safe and promote their welfare. In line with government policy, we also have a our Prevent Policy which safeguards our learners from being drawn into terrorism and promotes advice, guidance and support. We are committed to ensuring that every member of staff is safeguarding-trained to help ensure that First Rung is a safe place for our learners. We are committed to working with parents, carers, local authorities and other stakeholders to identify and address risks to the safety and wellbeing of our learners.
We have a dedicated Safeguarding Team that leads on all safeguarding matters across our 2 centres. All First Rung staff are trained and inducted in Safeguarding procedures.
