Additional Support

for 16 - 24-year-olds with an Education, Health and Care Plan

First Rung’s mission is to enable all its learners to achieve their full potential. We welcome applications from young people with special education needs and will support them in developing the skills and self-confidence they need to progress in their careers. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to treat each young person as an individual. We will identify each leaners’ learning, social and emotional needs and work with them together on a bespoke programme that meets those needs.

Our Study Programme offers learners the opportunity to:

  • Explore their career options

  • Develop their vocational skills

  • Improve their English, maths and ICT levels

  • Develop the skills they need to get a job or a placement

  • Gain vital work experience

Learners will receive a very high level of individual support including one-to-one provision and small group tutorial sessions. At the end of their programme, they will be supported in progressing to further education, an apprenticeship, employment or another suitable destination.

I joined First Rung with an Education Health Care Plan. I am glad I choose First Rung as it wasn’t too big, the classes are small and the teachers are really supportive and nice people.
