Study Programme

(16-18 year olds)

Our Study Programme provision caters for young people aged 16-18 who need to take their first step on the career ladder. We offer individualised programmes of learning and development activities that are tailored to the needs of each young person.

Our provision offers a range of vocational options and participants have the opportunity to achieve a qualification in one of the following areas:

  • Business Administration Level 1

  • Early Years/ Health and Social Care Level 1

  • Health and Social Care Level 2

  • Accountancy (AAT) Level 2

Young people who need support with English and mathematics are enrolled on either the functional skills or GCSE qualification in those areas and are provided with the help they need to get their skills up to the required level. All participants are offered training in ICT and digital skills that they will need for the workplace.

Our Study Programmes also provides activities that help young people gain the personal skills and qualities they need to secure employment and have fulfilling lives. As part of their programme learners undertake Preparation for Life and Work, and Personal and Social Development courses that cover areas such as:

  • Career exploration

  • Job search and interview skills

  • Communication skills

  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Confidence building

  • Tolerance and mutual respect

Young people have access to high quality advice and guidance throughout their time on the programme and get support in progressing to appropriate destinations such as an apprenticeship, employment, or further training/education.

  • Do not stress! You can continue to retake your English and math qualifications up to 18 years old. First Rung has a course for you to gain your qualifications and then progress onto an apprenticeship, job or further education.

     

  • Yes, First Rung offers smaller classes (maximum 13 students) which will help you to gain the qualifications needed to progress into further training, employment or an apprenticeship.
