Jacky Hinton

Jacky Hinton worked for the Open University for over 17 years in a variety of roles including Director of Executive Education, Programme Director of the MBA and Associate Dean Quality and Curriculum all in the Faculty of Business and Law.
Between 2019 and 2023 she was the Director of Apprenticeships during which time she oversaw the expansion of the apprenticeships programme from 1,000 to over 4,000 apprentices. She was the Senior Accountable Executive for a multi-million pound change programme which moved apprenticeships from being a niche business line to become part of the usual business of the University. She oversaw the successful Ofsted inspection in 2019 when the University’s provision was rated “Good”.
She also led the development of the University’s strategy for both apprenticeships and higher technical qualifications (HTQs). She was a member of the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) Board and regularly input to government policy development for both apprenticeships and HTQs.
Prior to working for the University, Jacky worked in the Financial Services and management consultancy sectors for over 20 years leading large scale programmes implementing major IT and regulatory changes.
She has a Masters in Occupational Psychology and is a qualified Chartered Occupational Psychologist.
