Apprenticeship Standard: Early Years Practitioner

The early years apprenticeship offers the candidate the opportunity to pursue a career as a childcare practitioner under the guidance and

supervision of an early year’s educator and/or another suitable qualified professional.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates must show a genuine interest in working with children and be judged capable of

achieving Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English.

To be able to gain a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

What will I study?

The Level 2 Early Years Practitioner includes:

  • Early years development of children and young people in communication and personal development

  • How to develop a positive and caring environment for children and young people

  • Build and maintain a relationship with children and young people

  • Why health and well-being are important for babies and children

  • Paediatric First Aid
